This winter's 2024 "Au fil des collections" exhibitions feature two French artists whose work is in eloquent dialogue with the museum's collections: Dominique De Beir, who made a generous donation to the Metropole de Montpellier in 2023, and Pierre Buraglio. For several weeks, Buraglio worked in the museum galleries, reinterpreting some of his masterpieces in a process of progressive distancing that began in the 1990s. His work is displayed alongside source works (Bazille, Courbet, Leenhardt...) from different periods, in three of the museum's galleries. As for Dominique De Beir, the collection he brought into the museum last year is set against sculptures, drawings and paintings freely chosen by the artist. This fruitful carte blanche can be discovered in five rooms of the museum, including the majestic Richier atrium.
